2016 Endorsed Candidates
The following candidates were endorsed by the club at the general membership meeting on April 3, 2016:
Club Endorsed Town Council Candidates
Incumbent Council Member Corinne Kerner
My husband Jim and I have lived in Saddle River for 12 years, raising our two children and caring for my parents who live with us. Both of our daughters enjoyed their years at Wandell, and we remain strong supporters of our very special elementary school that is truly the center of our community. I had the pleasure of serving as a Girl Scout leader for my younger daughter’s troop at Wandell and continue to assist with my older daughter’s troop.
We are proud to own and preserve the historic E. J. Roy house, built in 1868 as the summer home of a New York City dentist and his family. Our home is listed on both the National and State Registers of Historic Homes and contributes to the quaint fabric of our town. We hope to be here for many years.
Jim and I are active members of the Republican Club and long-time supporters of the Republican Party. I am currently a sitting Councilmember, having come up through the Republican Club as a member, a Trustee, the Membership Chair and a Municipal Committee representative. As the Membership Chair, I helped expand the Club from 130 to over 430 members and broadened Republican participation in local politics. Jim is currently the Treasurer of the Club and previously served as a Trustee.
Professionally, I have over 25 years of experience as a forensic accountant, auditor, leveraged lender and corporate turnaround consultant. I currently specialize in corporate technology audit and optimization at a growing company owned by Saddle River residents. My part-time schedule and ability to work from home provides me the flexibility to care for my family and the locally availability to serve my community.
In short, my life is centered around Saddle River. I live here, work here and my immediate and extended family all enjoy the benefits of a quiet life in a beautiful and unique small town. It is my greatest desire that Saddle River remain the special place that attracted all of us to make the very discretionary choice to move here.
Council Candidate Ron Yates
Gail & I have lived in Saddle River for 40 years. We bought here in 1978 and when we decided to move, it was only a few streets over. We wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
We raised our three sons here - Scott, Todd and Brian. They attended Wandell when we still had a middle school and graduated from Ramsey High School. Both Brian & Scott joined the Saddle River Fire Department. Brian continues to serve, after 30 years and two terms as Chief, and has been instrumental in the revival of our volunteer fire dept. over the last 2 years. This often takes him away from our family-run business but it's an investment we choose to make for the good of the community.
Personally, I've been active in the community and on town boards for many years, but have never been compelled to run for elected office until now (please CLICK HERE for an explanation of why). I am a Mechanical Engineer and small business owner who provides local jobs for the community and for our family. I understand what is takes to run a fiscally sound operation and meet our obligations to customers, vendors and the wonderful people that we employ. I will apply these same values serving Saddle River on the Borough Council and humbly ask for your vote.
